Romans 14:19 – Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
Today’s Inspiration: We Need Each Other
Back from a very special trip out of the country and I really do appreciate how bless we are as a nation.
It appears that whenever I travel abroad, I return home with another level of thankfulness to God for placing me here in America.
But I must tell you. This recent trip had me think more about how much we as Americans don’t take the advantage of the wonderful creation God has given us and use it for good and not evil.
The place where I travel, I shall not mention, but will say that the people where I visited had a kindred spirit that resonated daily of peace, laughter and love.
They, the people of this particular area embraced what God had given them and has capitalize on it by using nature for food, clothing and shelter.
The environment was pristine and the mountains and waters sang a harmonious song together as God’s creatures chimed along into the melody.
While my first hours upon arrival were somewhat long and drawn out due to customs officials inspecting every nook and cranny of luggage being brought into their country, I did survive and was prepared to meet head-on the next days with optimism and openness to learn from others.
As the days swiftly passed by and I took in about two days of a tourist run, the rest was spent with my lovely younger daughter who is volunteering in a village that has warmly embraced her as one of their own.
After arriving back home, I fell into a sadness because for the first time in all my travels, I actually witness what true community and genuine relationships is all about.
Minus the false trappings of phony smiles and gimmicks that pull people away from each other here in America, rather than together. This particular village was the real deal with the people showing their expression of gratitude for what they have and not what they don’t have.
Look, it comes down to what I hope to one day see return back in America and that is showing love and respect for each other.
People, we need each other.
And most importantly, we need God.
I picked a few music videos out that tell a short story about where we’ve been as a nation and prayerfully, where we are going.
