I thought it appropriate to begin this health series on a platform in which all health is sustained. We take breathing for granted because we do so unconsciously and generally only become aware of a problem when we are unable to breathe.
Oxygen is believed to be the most common hospital treatment throughout the developed world. According to the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines it is considered to be the safest, most effective medicine in the health system. Without oxygen, cells can only function for limited periods of time; however, long-term depletion leads to the death of the cell and eventually death of the organism.
In an article written by Neil C. Bhavsar and published in Futurism, he affirms that research is showing 40% of cancers are preventable. Cancers of the kidney, esophagus, colon, mouth, liver and breast can be avoided. The maintenance of normal body weight; eating a healthy diet of fresh fruits and vegetable, minimal to moderate alcohol consumption and abstinence from tobacco products, all help in reducing the risk of cancer.
So why is oxygen important? In 1931 Dr. Otto Henrich Warburg won his first Nobel Prize for proving that cancer is caused by a lack of oxygen respiration in cells. “All normal cells have an absolute requirement for oxygen, but cancer cells can live without oxygen – a rule without exception. Deprive a cell of 35% of its oxygen for 48 hours and it may become cancerous.” says Warburg. He discovered that cancer cells are anaerobic (meaning they do not breathe oxygen) and cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen.
Enter Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide, otherwise known as H2O2 which contains one more molecule of oxygen than water.

The understanding of Epigenetics is a serendipitous component to the health equation. According to the Collins English Dictionary, Epigenetics “is the study of heritable changes that occur without a change in the DNA sequence.” It involves the addition of small chemical tags known as methyl groups to the DNA double helix. So in other words, environmental influences can change your DNA and be inherited by your offspring and future generations.
This is important when you consider the rise in cancers and diabetes for example. The predisposition of one member of a family to get cancer because their mother had cancer does not assure that a sibling with the same birth parents will also get cancer. Diet and lifestyle choices play a very important role in changing methyl groups and creating new ones based upon these healthy lifestyle choices.
All pretty fascinating stuff. Gone are the days when we look to our doctors to offer the sum total of knowledge about our health. The truth is, no one knows better how your body is doing, than you. Taking full responsibility for your health and making choices that are in your best interest will truly enable you to life your best life.
