It Takes Faith

1 Corinthians 2:5 – That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Greetings in this 2018 New Year!

Or should I really say, Thank you Lord for saving me yet again.

After months of being in and out of the hospital, doctors and emergency room visits, I lay in my bed after having heart surgery in late December.

The surgery went well and I am recuperating slowly. I am with pain and feel somewhat discomfort. But each day I can say that God has been good to me.

Right now, my thoughts aren’t so much on the physical pain or the mounting medical bills but more on what plans do God have for me going forth?

As much as I was fighting going through the surgery and praying that it wouldn’t happen, it did. I had to accept the fact that as much as we pray for God to change our situation and turn our circumstances around, oftentimes, our own selfish pride gets in the way of hearing the Lord’s answer to us.

When we finally surrender to God we can choose to be bitter or broken.

I chosen  the latter.

I needed to be broken so that my relationship with Christ would be as genuine and trustworthy as He is to me.

Now, laying in my bed and gently shifting from right side to left side, I now recognize that my life as I knew it is shifting too. What I thought would be a journey of good health will now be about the healing power of God.

It is often difficult for a Christian to admit that we are not excluded from sickness, whether it be of a minor nature or as devastating as cancer. What we have to learn and accept is that we must go through the process with God or without Him. It is of our own choosing.

Yes, I will declare to anyone that it takes faith to live this Christian journey.

It takes even greater faith to believe God when He tells us that, “He will never leave us or forsake us.”

As each day is given to me to live another day, I must have faith to have faith.

Finally, I want to thank all of you who are praying for me and continue to do so. I do appreciate your heartfelt prayers and gratefulness to all of you who have faith to believe in the impossible.

My friends, it takes faith.
