“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9
One of the most overrated and superficial holidays that have caused more heartache than love itself.
In the course of Valentine’s Day, lives will be affected, whether good or bad.
Singles will be setting their hopes on getting engaged or receiving an exclusive relationship promissory of some sort that the one they are with will make a commitment to being with them, for however long the romance of their coupling lasts (hours, days, months or perhaps forever).
Then there are married couples on the other end who is desperate to get through Valentine’s Day because they realized that they themselves were never compatible but they are hanging on in there because of the children or materialism (house, car, etc).
Yes, Valentine’s Day brings about the true meaning of what love really isn’t about in God’s eyes.
Superficial love only wrought disappointment and pain and delivers a solid punch in the heart when reality sets in.
Yet, with all the commercialism being thrown left and right for people to indulge with champagne, chocolates, cozy getaways and of course, the must have jewelry, all of these things are just empty illusions that avoid what God wants us to experience as a true, rewarding and personal relationship with Him.
God is love (Agape).
Love in the natural mindset of mankind runs in the exact opposite as to what God views as love for Him and for one another.
It is sad to know that there are people right at this present moment wanting someone to love them or believe in their heart that they are not worth loving.
I happen to know a few friends who avoid Valentine’s Day altogether by simply not acknowledging it or anyone who expresses love for them on that day.
What do you do with a person who feels neglected and overlooked on the one day of the year designated for love?
If you know Jesus as your Savior, you lovingly point them to Him.
Jesus, the best love you will ever have.
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39
