Pulling Down Your Strongholds

3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
                                                                                                                                                                                                              2 Corinthians 10:3-5

You are at work and a co-worker you don’t like ask you a question. Without skipping a beat, you respond harshly to the co-worker and refuse to answer the question.

Your child hits a classmate and refuses to apologize. You point out that your child was in the right, because the classmate has been constantly picking on him.

A family member confides in you about another family member and asked that you not share the information with anyone. But you do and then turn around and accuse the family member who told you the secret of being a gossiper and troublemaker.

While at a restaurant your waiter accidentally brings you the wrong order. You immediately start to complain without accepting the waiter’s apology. After dinner, you are not willing to leave a tip for the waiter.

If these scenarios seem familiar to you, then you may wish to ask yourself if you are dealing with strong holds in your life.

Strongholds are real. They can appear at anytime and anywhere.

Strongholds are spiritual and will always work against you. Not for good but for evil.

How can one identify one’s strongholds?

It first starts within one’s mind.

One major reason that I decided to discuss this subject about strongholds is because there are family members and close friends who are going through some tough times right now.

Regardless of the circumstances they are facing and dealing with, I came to recognize that spiritual battles were taking place in their lives that require more than turning to secular solutions.

Strongholds are not impossible to break, however, they can’t be left unchecked.

Every day, there are people who are giving up on life.

Perhaps the most unfortunate deceit of strongholds is oppression, suppression and depression.

Strongholds can also lead someone to commit suicide or go on a criminal rampage.

Situations such as wayward children (or parents), lost wages, foreclosure, sickness or sudden death of a loved one, may push one to the brink that they believe they just can’t win in life.

The difficulties of life aren’t pleasant but for Christians, it is even more essential that we take hold of the prescription given to us in the Word of God concerning pulling down your strongholds.

And we need to share our prescriptions (scriptures) with the world, despite their resistance. If you want to show Christ love, then show those who are lost the truth of His holy Word.

Pulling down your strongholds starts with self first and then helping others to do the same. Put on the whole armor of God.

I suggest when you have sufficient time, no, make the time to view this video teaching given by the late Derek Prince on the subject of Casting Down Strongholds. It hopefully will bring you to a better understanding as to who, what and how the strongholds have affected life here on earth.
