For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12
She must have cleared her throat a dozen times.
At one point, I thought that she was going into a massive heart attack.
Actually, she was experiencing a heart attack but not of the bodily kind but rather of another spirit.
My co-worker and co-conspirator at my former place of employment were close friends and considered to be as snug as a knitted hat.
Whenever you saw her, I was close behind and vice-versa.
We hung out together. At work and after hours.
And when we weren’t talking on the phone about the job, you would find us hanging out at some restaurant or bar during happy hours or meeting up at one of the premier night clubs on the weekends.
We shared the same office when the company opened its doors and we took to co-sharing the driving whenever we had to go out in the field to meet with clients.
So, you pretty much could say that we were like kindred sisters.
However, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that she would soon turn on me because the company executives chose to promote me to a managerial position with my own department.
Despite the fact that I was apprehensive in taking the position due to some unlikable characters who were on the management team, I resolved to not question God’s decision, and accepted the position.
My friend said she was happy for me but at the same time, her attitude and body language told a whole different story.
This dear friend and comrade despised the fact that I was chosen and not her. No, she didn’t echo those sentiments directly to me but in her own way, she expressed it to people she supposedly disliked that we worked with.
Naturally, I felt betrayed and hurt but I continue interacting with her. Knowing in my heart that our relationship would be no longer the same again.
Sharing this bit of my life history with you. I want to encourage someone today who may find themselves in a similar situation.
You may be continually elevated in your job, in an organization or even in a church or a ministry.
People who you may think will rejoice with you in your blessing may not be at all genuinely happy for you.
But, should this occur.
You need to move forward and not allow anyone to impede in your destination.
If God’s hand is upon you and He has set His purpose for you to do His will, no one can stop His plan for your life.
God’s favor isn’t fair.
At the time of God’s favor on my life, I wasn’t completely where my relationship should have been with God.
But God knows exactly who we are and where we are going with Him.
So, don’t let the devil convince you that you are not worthy to be blessed to be a blessing.
