Death and Life Friendships

Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Sometimes I take the time to give critical thought about my relationships.                Crossed-swords

For me to do this is to help me make spiritual decisions that are lined up with the Word of God.

Scripture that speaks about life and death in the power of the tongue is just one guiding instruction that helps me keep on the straight road to where God is leading me.

Thereby, when I stumble and fall, God picks me back up and reminds me just where I need to go and just who I should be following.

Of recent, I have found myself pulling away from a number of people.

These people aren’t what I would consider to be not worth my time.

But rather, these select people are comfortable being where they are at this time in their life in not wanting to do anything but to complain, gossip and dwell on death issues.

For me, death and life friendships can never bring about agreeable fruit.

As a matter of fact, I have come to find out that death and life relationships over a period of time will cause unnecessary pain and destruction.

You see, death and life friendships can become like an incurable disease with no hope of ever finding a cure, unless, one separates oneself from it.

Whatever makes a person with the seed of life want to mix their seed with death, the spiritual and natural outcome will surely not produce a healthy harvest.

Death friendships will weigh you down.

One of the best tests to find out if you are in a death or life friendship is to listen intently as to what your friend(s) is always talking about.

Are their conversations always dwelling on the sickness and death of someone? Expressing how hopeless they feel of what is occurring in the world? Stating continually that they are condemned to live a life of poverty and discontent?

Now, on the other-hand, there are friends who not only speak of life they also live for it.

Despite their circumstances, they are not allowing anything to hinder them from achieving their plans or dreams that God Himself has fixed solidly within their heart.

And here is the blessing with it all, even when it looks impossible, the friends of life keep the dream before them.

They are upbeat and willing to go the extra mile and not worry about what others think or are bother by the harsh and negative comments that come their way.

So today, I encourage you to give some thought about your relationships.

Only through prayer can you receive that answer.

Proverbs 27:17 – Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
