Bringing Light from Darkness

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:6

Mimi blinked once, then twice. The woman spoke again a louder voice, the kind you use when you believe your audience may be just a little deaf.

“Not in my house. Not my child. No way. No man is going to touch my child that way. ” The woman pulled the small version of herself closer, and the little girl squealed while dark, brown spittle oozed out the corner of her mouth.
The child took another bite of the candy bar. (Excerpt from Released: In Search of a King)

Book Cover Realeased In Search of a KingIncest is such an ugly word. So is rape and so is sexual abuse against children.

Incest, rape and sexual abuse can also be an enduring life-changer.

It goes without saying that a true writer, especially one who writes from a personal perspective, will write from the depths of their pain to bring to life truth, no matter how repulsive and disgusting that it might be.

Today, I have the privilege to share a book written by a dear friend and an excellent writer, Andrea Gadson.

Andrea recently published her first novel, Released: In Search of a King.

This heart pounding and nail-biting story isn’t for the faint-hearted or someone looking to read a good novel and then place it on the shelf.

However, Released: In Search of a King is a journey that Andrea takes her readers on through the eyes and thoughts of Mimi Combs who is a victim of sexual abuse beginning as an innocent child to growing older and finding her attraction for relationships that are loveless and empty.

As you begin to read the prologue of Released: In Search of a King, you are slowly drawn into Mimi’s world from the offset and you may even know someone like Mimi or perhaps you are a victim of sexual assault or abuse (that would be male as well) who is searching for answers to overcoming the pain, guilt, rejection, low-self-esteem and bitterness of heart.

The remarkable path in which Mimi must take is not some quick-fix fairytale. Mimi needs to be loved and with the kind of love she needs; only the Living God can give to her.

Every so often, a book emerges to bring light to darkness.

Released: In Search of a King is that light and believe it or not it is a Christian love novel with the discovery of Jesus redemptive power, grace and mercy. Andrea the author is to be applauded for bringing light from darkness.

This first novel of Andrea is a work of bravery for someone who herself was a victim of child molestation and is a survivor who is now actively reaching out to others to help in their healing process.

Finally, Andrea also has written a companion workbook, Let the Healing Begin. This workbook will empower childhood sexual abuse victims with the tools to heal. The workbook will be available in the near future.
